STTA's CEO Chew Soo Sheng praised president Lee Bee Wah

Although Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) CEO Mr Chew Soo Sheng has resigned, he praised current President Ms Lee Bee Wah for her efforts and contributions toward STTA.

In an exclusive interview with nanyang100.com, Chew said that his resignation has nothing to do with the issue surrounding ex-national coach Liu Gudong. Chew disclosed that he has accepted an executive position with a China technology company and will be going to China to take up the position. However, he will still continue to contribute toward STTA and will still be one of STTA senior committee member.

Concerning his short tenure with STTA, Chew told Nanyang100 that “although it was a short sting, we have done many strategic progresses.”

“You know, our president (Lee Bee Wah) and us has spent significant efforts in the past one year in developing our local youth.”

“Getting medal is one glorious thing but developing our local talent and youth is STTA’s long term strategic goal.”

“STTA president, Lee Bee Wah has contributed significantly in this area. She has managed to convince many to contribute and donate to STTA. She, herself has help developed many local talents. In this area, we have achieved many significant progresses.”

“Lee personally participated in this task; the main purpose is to build a good foundation for STTA,” said Chew.

“Not long ago, we went to Beijing. Lee has to spend several hours travelling to a training center in ZhengDing city, Hebei province to observe our youth there. She wanted to give them encouragement and support.”

“This is one of our strategic initiatives. Both Indonesia and Malaysia are able to develop world class local badminton talents. We should be able to do similar for our local table tennis talents” said Chew.

Chew said that although his tenure with STTA is short he has re-establish the local table tennis competition frameworks by tapping on his past experience in business strategy and planning. The competition now involves greater participation thus providing more opportunity to discover more talents.。

On Singapore national table tennis team, Chew reaffirmed to Nanyang100 reporter that STTA earlier declaration of its target of winning two medals for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Chew told Nanyang100 that Lee Bee Wah has in the news release, affirmed Chew contribution, especially on STTA strategic direction and established the foundation for future growth.

“We are very sad on Chew Soo Sheng resignation and we are grateful for his good works” said Lee.
